Have I mentioned that Hannah is not a good traveler? Well, we decided to test that once again by driving 10 hours to Florida to visit Grandma Vilas and Grandpa Dennis. Hannah was afraid that she would miss something exciting so she didn't sleep a wink. We made it in 15 hours, but one of our first stops was Walmart for earplugs for everyone. While in The Villages, Florida, we drove golf carts everywhere, danced at the Town Square every night, swam, and ate ice cream. We spent one day in the Magic Kingdom, just an hour away. Disney World was great! We went on Father's Day thinking that the lines would not be bad, but it was as crowded as I have ever seen it. It was pretty hot, but the kids had water misting fan things and could hardly stop spraying each other. Hannah stayed behind at The Villages as it is just mean to bring a baby to the Happiest Place on Earth in June. We also went to a water park. The rest of the time we just hung out around the pool. Grandma and Grandpa were the perfects hosts and entertained us all week. No one wanted to leave and Christian says that he will retire there!

Florida or Bust!

Summer Pool Fun for Everyone!
This summer we have spent many hours in the pool. The kids at our family pool in the neighborhood, Hannah in her kiddie pool and Paul building our new pool! Everyone knows that the best way to end a drought is to dig a huge hole in your backyard! It may be quite some time before we can pour concrete!

Hannah turns 1!!
We had the family over for cake and ice cream for Hannah's first birthday. She tasted every present that she got and decided that birthdays are indeed tasty! The bows and ribbons were especially a big hit. The cake icing had a bit of a gooey texture that was not met with pleasure. No one likes gooey hands. As Hannah found out the best way to get icing off hands is to smear it in your hair. It also creates a cool new look! For those of you interested, this also works with smushed banana!

Over the river and through the woods!
Well, Hannah is not a good traveler. This was discovered the hard way. The girls (Holly, Cassie, Hannah and I) went on a roadtrip and met my parents in Illinois to spend some time with my Grandma Hinkle. The 5 hour trip was a very long 7 hours with frequent stops and diaper changes along the way. The trip home was the same in reverse. So loud was the fussing that Cassie exclaimed "This baby is driving my crazy!" and bailed out for the very smooth and relaxing ride with Grandma Vilas and Grandpa Dennis! Nonetheless, Great Grandma Hinkle was very happy to see everyone again and Hannah had a great time swinging from Grandma's walker! She also loved the old box of toys that have been played with by every Hinkle baby ever! Great Uncle David is a fantastic playmate!
