Bye for Now

Hannah and I leaving for Florida for the annual Barnes & Noble store manager conference.  I leave you with a quick reminder of last year's trip.  Let's hope for better results this time!

Holly's Hair Salon Strikes Again

First of all, I must state for the record that I am not drunk in this photo.  Yes, I look like I am, but I am not.  Now, back to your normally scheduled post.
I'm not sure if you remember, but this is not Holly's first attempt at creative hair design.

This is what her work looks like when she is not being "creative" and does not have easy access to glitter hair gel.  Hannah says that Holly made her hair "beautiful."

Stephanie Nielson

Remember the Nielson family?  Well, in today's People magazine there is a quick blurb about her family and the internet fundraising efforts.  Not that I have asked my booksellers to let me know when People comes in the back door.  Not that I read it on my lunch break the day it comes out.  'Cause that would be weird (and a little sad.)

Don't forget to send good thoughts her way!!

How Many Slurps to Get to the Center of a Tootsie Pop?

We have spent many happy hours outside drawing each other on the driveway.   The fact that we have more chalk on ourselves than on the driveway is really not important.

If you listen closely you can hear the slurping sounds followed by a contented sigh.  Notice how she must pause to truly enjoy the Tootsie Pop.  This is just how I eat my Snickers bars!

8 Gold Medals is Nothin' to this Girl!

Hannah has become a little fish!  She swims underwater with her eyes open and a great big grin on her face!  The problem is that she is fearless!  You never know when or where she will jump in the water!  She seems to have mastered the technical head bob stroke.  I love it that she needs her goggles to swim underwater!

2 Year Olds Make Me Happy!

When she went to bed last night she told me to have sweet dreams, then she said "Mommy, I love you SOOO much!"

When she woke up this morning she said "Mommy, you are nice" and looked at me with her big brown eyes and sweet face and bedhead.  Then my heart melted into a big puddle of goo on the floor.

Good Thoughts for Nie Nie

This story of the Nielson's has been breaking my heart, slowly, for days. They are strangers to me, yet I think of her and her family several times a day. I worry about how her 4 children are doing. I want to help them. If you do too you can click on the link to the right and donate or go to here and here to bid in the auctions, or here to find other ways to help, or just send them your thoughts and prayers.

Things in My Brain

Today at work we were listening to the 80's channel on our Muzak. It was something a little different from the usual calm, soothing, mellow classical music that just becomes white noise. I was sitting in my office when I realized that I was singing. Not only was I singing, but I knew EVERY SINGLE WORD to the "rap" portion of Rapture. This made me wonder, why can I keep this in my brain but I have no idea what I ate for breakfast or where I put my keys? If only I could make more space up there and get rid of a few useless items I'm pretty sure that I could solve some world issues. Or at least find my keys.

About 2 minutes in you will find the rap before there was rap!
